ShotVeilPrivacy Policy
ShotVeil ("the extension") is provided by manuru2, an individual developer in Japan ("we"). This policy explains what the extension and this website do with data.
1. What stays on your device
Capturing, editing, copying and saving screenshots all happen in your browser. Screenshots are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. A captured image is held briefly in the browser's local storage only to hand it to the editor tab, and is deleted as soon as the editor opens it.
2. Pro: reading page text (locally)
If you use the optional auto-hide feature, the extension reads the visible text of the tab you chose, on your device, only to find the positions of sensitive items (such as emails or card numbers). The text itself is not stored and not sent anywhere; only the positions are passed to the editor.
3. Pro: capture info and license checks
If you use the optional capture info bar, the extension reads the title and address of the tab you captured (only when you click the button or press the shortcut) and writes them into the bar under your image, on your device. They are held briefly in the browser's local storage only to hand them to the editor tab, and are not sent anywhere.
If you buy Pro, the extension sends your license key, our organization ID and a random device label to Polar (api.polar.sh) to activate the license and re-check it about once a day. No screenshots or page content are sent. The license key and activation ID are stored in the browser's local storage on your device.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Polar, our payment provider and merchant of record. Polar collects the information needed to take payment (such as your email address and payment details) under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your card details.
5. What we do not do
The extension does not collect your browsing history, does not use analytics or advertising, and does not sell or share personal data. This website uses no cookies and no analytics. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process technical logs such as IP addresses to deliver the site.
6. Permissions
activeTab: capture the tab you click on. scripting: (Pro) read that tab's visible text locally. storage: remember your license.
